Ployd

Ployd is the deep bass brainchild project of Atlanta native Aireon Grimes. Ployd was a part of the original wave of producers and DJs to accept the newer dub sound coming from across the pond in 2008. He quickly became an influential player in paving the way for the sound’s rise in the Southeast EDM scene through his part in launching the first two Atlanta dubstep collectives: Atlanta Dubstep and Wobble House. Leaving his mark even more in the area, he started the popular monthly club night, Slow & Low, which has become a deep dubstep staple, hosting names such as The Widdler, Thelem, Hatcha, Truth, and many more.

He’s remained heavily involved in the scene over the years, being direct support for top names from Liquid Stranger, 12th Planet, Champagne Drip, Excision, Rusko and many more. Though he didn’t set out to become a professional when he started DJing in 2003, Ployd ended up becoming one of the most booked DJ’s in Atlanta. He’s also performed at festivals such as Imagine, Hulaween, Wakarusa, Okeechobe, TomorrowWorld, Shaky Beats and more.

Grimes has won multiple awards, including “Easiest DJ to Work With” from Ricky Raw and “People’s Choice Best DJ in Atlanta” from Creative Loafing – where he was also featured on the magazine cover. Ployd’s sets are never one sided, as he effortlessly moves through the electronic auditory universe with dynamic BPMs and genres, with a focus in Dark Dub and Drum and Bass. His unique style draws from all facets of bass music and runs the gambit of emotion. Catch him bouncing from city to city, coming soon to a club, festival, ballroom, bingo game or bonfire near you.
